Educator Open House
The Idaho State Historical Society would like to invite Educators to the Idaho State Archives for our free Educator Open House October 15th from 9am-3pm. Network with colleagues during breakfast, then join us for a workshop to learn the basics of archival research and how to introduce it to your classroom. Enjoy lunch while listening to a special guest speaker, and discover how the Idaho State Historical Society can be a resource to enhance classroom learning.

Agenda:
9am-10am Networking Breakfast
10am-12pm Archival Research & NHD Introduction
12pm-12:30pm Lunch and Learn with Guest Speaker
12:30-3pm Time to Explore
Teachers will:
-Explore the Idaho State Archives
-Hear about upcoming exhibits and events from agency sites including the Idaho State Museum, the Old Idaho Penitentiary, the Idaho State Archives, and the State Historic Preservation Office.
-Visit the Abraham Lincoln: His Legacy in Idaho exhibition
-Preview 2022-2023 In-person and virtual program offerings
-Participate in activity booths running throughout the evening to sample education programs offered by each site.
-Learn the basics of archival research and how to introduce it to your classroom as well as hear about the ISHS National History Day in Idaho Program
-Learn how to help your students make deep and meaningful connections between their own lives and the stories of Idaho.
*This event is free for all qualifying educators and school staff. To qualify you must be an active employee of a public, private, or parochial school. Home school Educators, Early Childhood Educators, Informal Educators, and Education College Students are eligible as well.
