About Lauren Atwood:
Lauren began her role with IDOC at the beginning of 2024. As the Victim Services Coordinator, her role is to provide post-conviction victim services to victims of all felony crimes, by supporting and assisting them during a resident’s incarceration at an Idaho state prison or community reentry center.
Prior to her position with IDOC, Lauren’s experience working with victims of crime has included working as a program manager and case manager at a non-profit center that serves victims of interpersonal violence in Ada County. Lauren has also received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a minor in communications from Boise State University.
The services that IDOC provides to victims include keeping victims notified on any changes to a resident’s custody status, making sure that no contact orders are being upheld, assisting victims if they are receiving unwanted contact from a resident, and helping victims prepare for a resident’s release into the community. Overall, Lauren is the contact for victims if they are needing support or assistance in any way during a resident’s incarceration.
“Captivating Conversations” is an ongoing educational experience series, hosted by the Old Idaho Penitentiary and featuring a variety of guest speakers and topics ranging from the history of the Idaho State Penitentiary to the issues facing correctional institutions today.
