Nuestras Voces: Construyendo Lazos de Unión

Para que una comunidad pueda mantenerse saludable y unida, es necesario que existan personas cuyo rol es crear nexos comunitarios. Este aporte requiere comunicación, participación y un basto entendimiento de los diferentes y diversos grupos que pueden existir en una población; cuando esta se analiza y celebra diferencias, genera un mejor entendimiento y aprecio de la misma. La pluralidad es estimulante y puede promover un conflicto positivo, regenerativo, e impulsar innovación, colaboración y respeto en el entendimiento de diferentes maneras de pensar. Para sacar provecho de los efectos positivos de una comunidad que es diversa hay que entender muy bien las fuerzas que la pueden unir o separar. Los nexos comunitarios pueden crear un puente en una posible división cultural.

Conoce a los intermediarios, que generan nexos en nuestra comunidad, en el próximo programa virtual de Nuestras Voces, el 24 de Junio a las 6:00 pm. Escúchalos mientras conversan y nos cuentan lo que significa para ellos la construcción de este entendimiento cross-cultural y como lo hacen. Este evento virtual es presentado totalmente en español.

The role of a community liaison is to bring people together. It requires communication, participation, understanding and support for a diverse group of people. When a community reflects and celebrates diversity within the population, people build a greater understanding and appreciation of cultural differences. Diversity can be stimulating. If can foster creative conflict. This drives innovation and collaboration. Diversity can create a community that respects and represents different viewpoints. To promote these positive effects of a diverse community, understanding of the forces that bring people together or drive them apart is necessary. Community liaisons exist to bridge the cultural divide.

During this next Nuestras Voces, June 24^that 6PM, meet some of these community “connectors.” Listen in as they discuss what it means to build cross-cultural understanding and how they do it. This free, virtual event is presented in Spanish.
