Idaho Genealogical Society: Remembering the War Dead of the 20th and 21st Centuries
The Idaho Genealogical Society presents Ivan C. Johnson who will discuss researching — and honoring — the war dead of the United States and the British Commonwealth in the 20th and 21st centuries. Using specific examples, including some from his own family, Ivan will give sources of information about individual casualties of each conflict. He will also describe the work of the American Battle Monuments Commission, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, and the Last Post Association.
Ivan has been actively engaged in genealogy for nearly 60 years and has given talks at meetings and conferences for about 40 years — in Idaho, California, England, and New Zealand. Ivan was born in England but has lived in the U.S. for most of his adult life. He is a professor emeritus of California State University, Northridge, where he taught economics for 30 years.
