Spring & Summer Camps at the Idaho State Museum!

Camps are a great way to provide hands-on learning opportunities for your family! Have a blast with camps at the Idaho State Museum. Experience history like never before as you play, explore, and make new friends. Spring and Summer camps are offered annually at the Idaho State Museum near the heart of downtown Boise. Register for week-long camps or single-day camps online. Camp activities incorporate STEM learning and tie into K-5 learning curriculum. 

The Idaho State Museum has a limited number of camp scholarships available. To apply, please complete the application and submit to shseducation@ishs.idaho.gov

2025 Camps

For youth ages 6-11.
March 17th-21st
8am-5pm

$70/camper per day, non-members
$60/camper per day, members
Weeklong discount is $25 off. Use code ALL5 at checkout.

Free time for campers offered 8-9am and 4-5pm.
Registration deadline is 5pm the day before camp.

Max capacity is 20 campers per camp.

Festival of Friends

Monday, March 17th

Celebrate with us! Idaho is home to many cultures which have unique festivals, holidays, and commemorations. In one day, learn about St. Patrick’s Day, Lunar New Year, Dia de los Muertos, Jaialdi, and more! Includes a performance by Irish Dance Idaho.

Craft and Construct

Tuesday, March 18th

Calling all engineers and architects! Design, build, and test your creativity by constructing catapults, crafting sturdy bridges, and completing the Tallest Tower challenge. 

Habitat Heroes

Wednesday, March 19th

Explore everything from coyotes to kestrels to cottonwoods and discover why the biodiversity in Idaho is so special. Design an animal habitat and make a food chain craft!

Masterpiece Makers

Thursday, March 20th

Taking inspiration from Idaho’s natural beauty, gain experience with different mediums of art. Hone your creative skills using paint, clay, and even sticks and leaves to create different masterpieces!

Potato Party 

Friday, March 21st

Idaho grows the most potatoes in the country, and that’s a reason to throw a party! Learn about spuds and make some buds! Potato clocks, potato pets, and potato prints are all on the menu.

Dig Into History

Monday, July 7th

Dinosaurs once walked in Boise, marine reptiles swam in Lewiston, and volcanoes spewed forth lava near Pocatello. Campers will learn about Idaho’s amazing geologic past that stretches back hundreds of millions of years. There will be a mini fossil dig, rock and mineral identification, geode cracking, and more!   

Rowdy Rodeo

Tuesday, July 8th

Round up, campers! Get ready to experience the Wild West through hands-on crafts, games, and activities inspired by true tales from Idaho’s history.  Discover the influence of vaqueros, learn to tie knots, and create leatherwork to prepare yourself for the next rodeo. 

Gem State Studio

Wednesday, July 9th

Idaho is full of beautiful colors and landscapes that inspire. Grab an apron, prepare to get messy, and create art influenced by the Gem State. Charcoal, watercolors, and more will be used!

Trail Travelers

Thursday, July 10th

Idaho was center stage for settlers coming West to start new lives. Look back at their stories and try your hand at homesteading skills! Campers will make butter, build a raft to ford a river, and learn games that children played on the Oregon Trail.

Claws, Paws, and Jaws

Friday, July 11th

Predators come in all shapes and sizes in Idaho, and we will spend this camp day exploring the unique traits of animals like bears, birds of prey, and rattlesnakes. Build a bear den, learn animal classification, and search the museum for predator habitats!

Park Explorers Camp

Cost: $450 non-members/$420 members of Discovery Center of Idaho, Idaho State Museum, Boise Art Museum, or Zoo Boise
For students in 2nd – 5th grade, or ages 7-11

Explore Julia Davis Park! Visit a different cultural institution each day. Partners include: Boise Art Museum, Zoo Boise, Idaho State Museum, and the Discovery Center of Idaho. A detailed schedule will be provided. Participants will begin and end each day at the Idaho State Museum.
