Captivating Conversations: Idaho’s Merci Train Boxcar

Join the Old Idaho Penitentiary for a special look at Idaho’s “Merci Train” Boxcar, an artifact on display at the site. Hosted by Steve North, Former Navy Signalman, currently serving in the American Legion, Songs of the American Legion, and the Forty & Eight Society.

The Forty & Eight Society promote and educate the public on the history of the Merci Boxcars, in addition to promoting the well-being of Veterans, their widows, widowers and orphans, and to actively participate in selected charitable endeavors, which include programs that promote child welfare and nurse training. North will host a presentation on the Merci Boxcar, the events surrounding its arrival to the United States, and how it brought two nations together after World War II.

This event is FREE. Pre-register online, or arrive at the Old Idaho Penitentiary by 6:30 pm on Friday, April 15.

Event: Friday, April 15. Doors open at 6:00 pm, presentation begins at 6:30 pm. Site closes at 8:00 pm.

“Captivating Conversations” is an ongoing lecture series, hosted by the Old Idaho Penitentiary and featuring a variety of guest speakers and topics ranging from the history of the Idaho State Penitentiary to the issues facing correctional institutions today.
