History Happy Hour: Bringing Lights to Idaho’s Winter Nights

There’s something magical about thousands of lights amid a garden full of snow. The Idaho Botanical Garden were established in 1984. By 1997, the Idaho Botanical Garden launched its first Winter Garden Aglow with more than 15,000 lights strung throughout the landscape. This year, the garden’s twinkling wonderland opens on November 24 and runs until January 1, 2022. Learn more about the history of Idaho Botanical Garden and Winter Garden Aglow, as well as what you can look forward to during your visit any time of year, with featured panelist Eric Walle, Event Director at the Idaho Botanical Garden.

Eric Walle received his bachelor’s degree in History from The University of New Mexico. With extensive professional experience in marketing and program management, he joined the Idaho Botanical Garden in early 2021 as the Event Director. Passionate about the history of the Idaho Botanical Garden and its events, Eric brings his passion and expertise to this staple of the Treasure Valley.
