Idaho Genealogical Society: Using Digital Newspapers
The Idaho Genealogical Society presents Laurie Skinner Francis who will discuss the advantages of using digital newspapers in your family history research. Newspapers are one of the best sources of historic social and cultural details. It’s like having a window into the past. They offer a look at the daily events of a community and provide important information about the births, marriages, and deaths of current and former residents. Forget the dusty paper stacks and the cranky microfilm readers; newspapers are now available in digital format.
Laurie is a retired librarian, genealogy instructor, and former library director of the McKay Library at BYU–Idaho. She has been researching her own family’s genealogy and helping others with theirs for 50 years. Like many other enthusiastic genealogists, her interest was sparked by the stories of her ancestors told to her by her grandmother.
