Exhibit opening: Life in the Embrace of the Blue Dragon Lava – Celebrating 100 Years of the Craters of the Moon

The Idaho State Archives is proud to host the opening reception of the art exhibition “Life in the Embrace of the Blue Dragon Lava – Celebrating 100 Years of the Craters of the Moon” by Treasure Valley conservation artist Mary Arnold. This exhibit showcases the body of work Arnold completed during her year-long residency at the Craters of the Moon National Monument.

An expressionistic painter in the Fauvist style, Arnold uses her work to emphasize humanity’s connection to nature and carry a message of conservation. “I am inspired by my love of geology, the west, and the animals that call it home,'” says Mary. “I hope that my art broadens a message of shared use and advocacy for protecting and sustaining our open spaces and wildlife.”
