About Abby Gordon:
Abby is a senior at Boise State University studying History and Political Science. She currently works as a docent in the visitor services department at the Old Idaho Penitentiary, where she created a tour and presentation discussing the women who served time at the site.
The story of the Women’s Ward research ranges from Idaho’s alleged first female serial killer to women who faced adversity based on their gender. The 217 women who served time at the Penitentiary offer a glimpse into more than just Idaho history, but how society and the justice system viewed the women who committed these very “un-lady-like” crimes.
“Captivating Conversations” is an ongoing educational experience series, hosted by the Old Idaho Penitentiary and featuring a variety of guest speakers and topics ranging from the history of the Idaho State Penitentiary to the issues facing correctional institutions today.
