Idaho State Archives and the National Digital Newspaper Program (NDNP)
The National Digital Newspaper Program (NDNP) is a partnership between the Library of Congress (LC) and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) to digitize America’s historic newspapers published between 1690 and 1963. More than 15 million pages are available and keyword searchable on the Chronicling America website. The NDNP is a long-term effort to provide permanent access to a national digital resource of newspaper bibliographic information and historic newspapers.
Idaho has been awarded its third, 2-year grant cycle by the NEH to increase Idaho’s contribution to the NDNP database to 300,000 images of historical newsprint pages. To date, Idaho has digitized 83 newspaper titles spanning across all of Idaho.
