Classroom Outreach

Thank you for your interest in museum outreach! We are excited to share the new Idaho State Museum with you!

Our current classroom outreach programs are suspended while we develop virtual field trips.
Many resources are still available, including:

The Ray Knight Scholarship-The Ray Knight Scholarship is a memorial for a volunteer who gave many years of service to the Old Idaho Penitentiary and loved sharing the history of the site with school groups. The scholarship provides opportunities for students that normally wouldn’t be able to visit our site the chance to experience the Old Idaho Penitentiary or Idaho State Museum through funding for buses.

Traveling trunks-Our traveling trunks have been updated with engaging curriculum for multiple grade levels, as well as media enhancements.

The Lewis and Clark trunk now offers multiple interdisciplinary inquiry units for 4th-12th grade, and places special emphasis on the encounters between the Corps of Discovery and the American Indians.
The Nez Perce trunk features handmade artifacts from tribal artisans, and includes updated media.

A trunk on the Minidoka Incarceration Camp is nearing completion with a target date for check out of November 1, 2018.

Thank you for your many years of support. We are excited for the new and expanded outreach opportunities to come!
