Description

Please note Brown Bags have changed location for the 2013 calendar year. Click museum events page below for map. Dr. Ken Reid, Idaho State Archaeologist, who will speak about the Bear River Massacre. In late January 1863, a Federal force attacked a winter village of Shoshones on Bear River in southeastern Idaho. Day’s end left hundreds of Indians and more than a score of soldiers dead or dying, the village sacked, and the seeds of an interpretive controversy planted.
