The Idaho State Historical Society engages community by building on shared experiences to inspire action and understanding to preserve and promote Idaho history. We support a number of grants and awards programs to honor our partners and their collective efforts and contributions.
The Idaho State Historical Society engages community by building on shared experiences to inspire action and understanding to preserve and promote Idaho history. But, we cannot do it alone; we rely upon our partners and their collective efforts and contributions. We have created an annual awards program to recognize outstanding contributions to this effort and honor individuals and organizations throughout the state.
Esto Perpetua Award
Named after Idaho's state motto, the "Esto Perpetua" award acknowledges and thanks people and organizations who make a difference in preserving and promoting Idaho history. Winners have demonstrated their commitment to inspire further action and understanding of preservation and history through professional accomplishment, public service, volunteerism, and philanthropy.
Idaho Heritage City Program
A collaboration between the Idaho State Historical Society and the Association of Idaho Cities, the Idaho Heritage City Program recognizes cities in Idaho that encourage preservation and interpretation of their cultural heritage.
Idaho Century Farm and Ranch Program
A collaboration between the Idaho State Historical Society and the Department of Agriculture, the Idaho Century Farm and Ranch Program recognizes a farm or ranch owned and operated in Idaho by the same family for at least 100 years, provided that at least 40 acres of the original parcel of land has remained in agricultural use throughout that time.
Sister Alfreda Elsenshon Museum Award for Outstanding Service
The Sister Alfreda Elsensohn Museum Award for Outstanding Service was initiated in 2008. It is a joint award given annually by the Idaho Heritage Trust, Idaho Humanities Council, and Idaho State Historical Society to recognize outstanding service by an Idaho museum.
